Your legs are not the first thing to give up.

Serious athletes already track heart rate, variability and load. What none of that sees is central fatigue — the tiredness that lives in the nervous system, blunts decision-making and pacing, and shows up in the signal before it shows up in the numbers you already have.

Recovery measured where it happens

Physical adaptation is consolidated during deep sleep. Every recovery score on the market estimates that from your pulse; ours reads the slow waves themselves, and whether your sleep pressure actually cleared. On the nights that matter most — after the hardest sessions — that difference is largest.

Central fatigue, separately from muscular

Two athletes with identical training loads can be in completely different states neurologically. Shifts in your own resting rhythm show when the nervous system hasn’t caught up, which is usually the earliest warning that a block is going wrong.

Readiness before the session, not after

A number in the morning that reflects last night’s recovery and your current fatigue, so the decision to push or back off is made before the warm-up rather than in the third interval.

Focus under pressure

For shooting, archery, motorsport, climbing and anything where attention is the skill: how steadily you held it, session by session, and what conditions made that easier.

Overreaching

Sleep architecture changes before performance does.

By the time a training block has gone too far, the performance drop has already cost you weeks. The interesting question is what changed first.

Deep sleep proportion, how fragmented the night was, how quickly sleep pressure dissipated, resting rhythm the following morning — tracked against your own baseline across a block rather than compared to anyone else. When several of them drift together while load is still climbing, that is a conversation with your coach.

It is a signal to look at, not a verdict. We show the drift; you and your coach decide what it means.

We do not assess head injuries.

This will be the first thing some people in contact sport want to ask of a brain-sensing headband, so it is worth being blunt about.

Ninug does not detect concussion, does not grade its severity, and must never be used to decide whether someone returns to play. That is a regulated clinical assessment with serious consequences for getting it wrong, and a wellness device has no business anywhere near it. If a head impact is suspected, the answer is a qualified medical assessment — not a score on a phone.
